,,Growing up in Hellevoetsluis a small town near the Sea under the smoke of Rotterdam. The elements of nature is what I play with. I learn the craft of sewing, decorating and transforming skills from my creative and loving parents. As a teenager clubculture is coming up strong… House music all night long! We create clothes and mix with sixties and seventies vintage pieces. Life is a party! A mix of Movement (Street) , transformation (Couture) and sustainability (Sport) have always been very important in my clothes.”
,,The way I work is I search for vintage textiles, materials and dead stock any place I go and choose them by their structure and characteristics, the way they drape, move or fall. I drape fold or twist the fabric directly on the body and I work with soft tailoring. This is how my ideas come to life. It’s very intuitive.”
As an intern he moves to Swinging London and work with famous designers the British ‘Queen of Punk’ Vivienne Westwood and the conceptual Hussein Chalayan. When he returns to Amsterdam he works for famous Dutch couturiers Frank Govers, Aziz Bekkaoui and Frans Molenaar. In 1998 he graduates from AMFI Amsterdam Fashion Institute in Amsterdam and starts to work in the fashionable Interior Store DOM in Amsterdam as a salesman, visual merchandiser and window-dresser. In 2000 it’s High end designer boutique PRAGUE in Rotterdam he works for as a salesman and window-dresser. He quits his job at PRAGUE end of 2003. Whilst creating his iconic vintage draped parachute collection he works at Caroline Suits, Hollands finest skydivers atelier & rigging service where he designs and produces freefly and formation suits.
